Young Boards

Future-proof your organization with a Young Board!
Together, we’ll develop a mechanism in which the new generation—symbolizing future developments—is actively involved in decisions about the organization’s direction. This requires courage, especially from current leadership, as a Young Board brings fresh perspectives and challenges existing ideas.

With a Young Board, sustainability and climate considerations naturally find a place in the boardroom, as the younger generation places great value on these issues. At the same time, it provides opportunities for the organization to leverage innovative ideas and make forward-looking decisions.

Additionally, your organization will become more attractive to new talent and strengthen engagement with existing employees. A Young Board demonstrates that young talent is taken seriously and that there is room for personal and professional growth. In doing so, you not only prepare your organization for the future but also a new generation of leaders for their roles in a changing world.

Different variations

There are several ways to structure a Young Board. For example, you can choose to involve only young employees from within your organization or broaden the perspective by including young talent from outside. Another option is to invite young people from partner organizations or clients to participate.

By opting for a mix of internal and external youth, you create a versatile team that brings diverse perspectives and experiences. This broadens the vision on the challenges the organization faces and can lead to surprising, innovative insights.

Implementation plan

The process for implementing a Young Board unfolds over approximately six months and consists of several phases. Below are the key steps outlined:

1. Research and design of the Young Board principles

We begin with research to establish the ideal principles for the Young Board. In this phase, we explore how the new generation within or connected to your organization views future-oriented challenges. Simultaneously, we gather insights from current decision-makers to design a framework that bridges and strengthens both perspectives.

2. Organization and preparation of the Young Board

We guide both the organization and potential Young Board members through a process that evolves from within (“inside out”) and from external input (“outside in”). This starts with an internal event to generate support and enthusiasm.

3. Experimental phase: collaborating with the Young Board

Following the preparation, we launch an experimental phase where the Young Board operates actively for a predetermined period. During this time, the Young Board receives intensive support from our team to ensure they are well-prepared to contribute meaningfully and gain experience in decision-making processes.

4. Growth and monitoring phase

In this final phase, the organization takes over the management of the Young Board. However, we remain involved and schedule follow-up sessions to monitor its functioning, evaluate where additional support may be needed, and make adjustments if necessary.

There is also an option to join the Eye for Nature cooperative. This network offers valuable knowledge-sharing opportunities and the ability to undertake joint actions aligned with the ambitions of both the Young Board and the organization’s broader goals.

Budget

A one-year program to support your company starts at €18,000. Depending on what your organization can internally manage or facilitate, we’ll collaboratively determine the final budget. This may vary based on your organization’s specific needs and ambitions. Our support is tailored to ensure the investment delivers optimal results in achieving your goals.

Through this program, we’ll take significant steps to future-proof your organization and prepare a new generation of leaders for their roles in a dynamic world.
